Eläinhuoneen kokoonpanoa keväältä-kesältä 2010. Meillä on erimerkkisiä muoviterraarioita kesyhiirten asumuksina. Gabberit ovat kooltaan 57×40×27 cm. FOP-terraariot ovat 50×35×25cm, Mini Dunat 55×37×27cm ja lisäksi löytyy lukuisia n. 40×30×25-senttisiä terraarioiksi modattuja muovibokseja. Yksi mustapohjainen muoviterraario on ns. hamsterikokoinen eli n. 70×45-senttinen. Lasiterraarioissa asuu nataleita ja yhdessä terrassa on okahiiri.

Gerbiileitä on enää yksi, mutta olkoon nämäkin nyt täällä, jos vaikka joku saisi niistä vinkkejä sisustukseen.

Ylläolevissa kuvissa terraario 80×35×40 cm sisustettuna ilman kuiviketta. Taso on tehty pleksistä ja kiinnitetty silikonilla.
In pictures above is the 80×35×40cm terrarium furnished, without bedding. Transparent shelf is made of acrylic plastic and fastened with silicone.
Sama terra turve-puruseoksella ja heinällä, sisustuskamat kuivikkeen alla tunneleina.
Same terrarium with turf&woodshavings-bedding and hay, furnishings lay under bedding as tunnels.
Tällaisenkin tunneliston voi tehdä puruihin/Mörttiin (päälle tulee vielä kerros kuiviketta, niin että kamat jäävät piiloon).
You can make e.g. this kind of tunnel system under bedding (on the top you place lots of bedding so that you can't see the furnishings).

This is the usual amount of bedding, that has built up between cleanings. This is 70×35×40cm.
Viimeinen vaneritaso, joka meillä on ollut gerbiileillä... Tuskin tarvitsee selittää, miksi siirryttiin pleksiin ;)

Totutusverkko
A "safety net" for bringing together gerbils (because gerbils who are strangers to one another cannot be just thrown together)
Totutusverkko tehtiin 6-millisestä seulaverkosta, jota on kaksi kerrosta, välissä rakoa tuon puuriman paksuuden verran.
The net is made of 6mm screening net. There are two separate layers of that metal net and between them is a gap as thick as the lath.

Geez, how to translate this... Well, I have fastened drinking bottles to gerbil terrariums with these magnets, which are originally made for cleaning the aquarium glasses. Just tape the inner half (that one with rough surface) to bottle, place the bottle to appropriate height and set the outer half (with smooth surface) outside the terrarium glass to hold the bottle. You know ;)

Tein kaneille halpisesteen, tosin nuo mieluiten limboavat tai kiertävät... Pystypuut ovat kangaspakkarullien pätkät, jalustat tukevaa pahvia, puomi tiukaksi rullattua sanomalehteä (kiinni teipillä) ja puomin pidikkeet vessapaperirullasta leikattuja. Tein puominpidikkeille kaarevat aukot kangaspakkarulliin mattopuukolla.
Home-made obstacle for rabbits, though mine won't jump... The vertical poles are made of cardboard tubes, pedestals are sturdy cardboard and the beam is just tightly rolled newspaper reinforced with tape. Beam supporters are made of those cardboard tubes from toilet tissue roll. I cut the grooves for beam supporters with a mat knife.
